Saint Lucia to launch the 2012 UNESCO Youth PATH Project

The Saint Lucia National Youth Council (NYC) in collaboration with the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO will on Friday 5th October 2012 launch “Mamay la Leve´”, a UNESCO-funded Youth Poverty Alleviation through Tourism and Heritage (Youth-PATH) project.

The launching ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Parish Hall in Anse La Raye on Friday 5th October at 3:30pm.

This UNESCO funded Youth PATH project is geared at reaching disadvantaged youth from the communities of Anse-La-Raye and Canaries and giving them the opportunity to become tourism entrepreneurs.

The project provides the young people with training and business development support. A total of 60 young people from the Anse-Lay-Raye and Canaries communities are expected to receive training in the following areas: Tourism & Hospitality, Drug & Sexual Abuse, Anger Management & Violence Reduction, Local Craft Production, Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, The Art of Dance & Basic Theatrical Plotting & Arrangement, and Culinary Art.
