Saint Lucia to host Caribbean Museums Conference


PRESS RELEASE – The opening of the Museum Association of the Caribbean (MAC) Saint Lucia Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place at the Prime Minister’s residence on Wednesday October 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

The Board of the MAC in 2013 awarded the hosting of the 2015 AGM and Conference to Saint Lucia.

The local organizing committee comprising of the Saint Lucia National Trust, Archaeological and Historical Society, Saint Lucia National Archives, Folk Research Centre and Le Pavilion Royal Museum are all excited to welcome counterparts from twelve (12) Caribbean countries throughout the region.

This year’s AGM and Conference will be held from October 19-21, 2015 under the theme “Museums Sustainability through Youth Engagement” at the Bay Gardens Hotel.

This theme will give members and participants an opportunity to forge a more meaningful working relationship between our museum organizations and the youth of the Caribbean.

Presentations will focus on the theme and related topics, discussions and workshops capturing the work of MAC in the Caribbean, and the way forward for youth involvement in the preservation of our Caribbean heritage.
