Already in last place in everything but boys football, Team Saint Lucia hit a new low at the CBNN / WINLOTT Windward Islands School Games in Dominica on Thursday.

Saint Lucia were playing Grenada in a rescheduled girls basketball match on Thursday, Grenada leading 37-11 in the third quarter, when the Saint Lucia team fofeited the match.

Saint Lucia does not have a schools basketball programme for girls, nor even a club programme.

The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation has long spoken of its desire to focus more on the development of the sport for young ladies, but there has been little or no forward movement on that front.

But it got worse for Saint Lucia.

In boys basketball, Grenada beat St Vincent and the Grenadines 69-41. Saint Lucia forfeited their match to Dominica.

Saint Lucia are at the bottom of the standings in boys and girls basketball, boys and girls volleyball, netball and track and field, with their only positive result a win over Dominica on Wednesday in boys football.

On Friday, Saint Lucia is scheduled to play St Vincent and the Grenadines in girls basketball, Grenada in boys volleyball and football, and Dominica in netball.
