Saint Lucia is being represented at the 5th World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) World Conference on Doping in Sport.
Alfred Emmanuel, treasurer of the Saint Lucia Athletics Association, and general secretary of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee, is in Katowice, Poland along with representatives from across the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) and the rest of the world.
Delegates and experts from the global anti-doping community have converged in Katowice to take stock of the evolution of clean sport and engage in high-level discussion about the global anti-doping programme.
The Conference is focusing on the conclusions of the world anti-doping code review process, which started late in 2017 and which also included the review of the international standards.
The Conference will enable WADA’s stakeholders to publicly comment on the proposed changes to the revised documents, and they will then be approved by the WADA Executive Committee and Foundation Board on the final day of the Conference (November 7, 2019). They will take effect on January 1, 2021.
The mission of RADO, which is based in Bridgetown, Barbados, is to promote and coordinate the fight against doping in sport in all its forms in the Caribbean.
