The one day conference will challenge students to consider how much of a difference they can make in driving change. The day will culminate in the election of a National Students’ Council Executive.
Seven delegates from tertiary and secondary schools have been invited to this conference, and an estimated 150 participants are expected to converge at the National Cultural Center.
This conference is part of a phased approach of the NYC in revitalising the youth movement, Youth Advocacy and youth participation in St. Lucia and the Caribbean region. The conference will also commemorate International Students’ Day; celebrated on November 17th every year.
The National Students’ Council is a student-led body that represents students island-wide. Their purpose is to advocate for students, represent St. Lucian students locally and internationally to decision making bodies, and to promote students’ education and well-being.
The NYC, with the generous support of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, and the Ministry of Education is looking forward to the conference with anticipation of a high calibre of student leadership that will emerge as the new National Students’ Council Executive for 2015/2016.
