Saint Lucia national culinary team member competes at international mixology challenge

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Saint Lucia Hospitality & Tourism Association (SLHTA) wishes to extend its warmest congratulations to Craig Andes on his participation in the recently concluded Caribbean regional finals of the Angostura® Global Cocktail Challenge (AGCC).

The AGCC, a key and coveted event on the international mixology calendar, attracts over 250 participants, drawn from hundreds of entrants, from more than 30 countries around the world. Regional competitions are held globally with one bartender each successfully advancing to the final round held in Trinidad & Tobago in February 2020.

The recently concluded regional final, held this week in Barbados, placed some of the Caribbean’s most talented bartenders to vie for one spot in the final global round including Saint Lucia’s very own Craig Andes. Drawn from a large number of entrants from across the Caribbean, the one day competition featured just six of the Caribbean’s best mixologist – thus making Craig’s selection into the final a grand achievement on its own. Craig, a bartender at Sandals Grande Saint Lucia Spa and Beach Resort, is a formidable member of the Saint Lucia National Culinary Team. In 2018, he won the coveted Bartender of the Year Award at the annual SLHTA Culinary Competition and went on to represent Saint Lucia in the annual Taste of the Caribbean Competition in June 2019 where he won the Best Rum Drink in the Bartender Special Awards.

The competition, now in its tenth year, allows competitors to be judged and receive feedback from some of the globe’s most renowned mixologists in addition to expanding their knowledge of Angostura®, its bitters, rums and amaro and the wider categories of bitters, rum, and amaro, as well as the world of cocktails and bartending.
