The Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) has announced the final composition of its 2015 National Women’s Cricket Team, set to participate in a series of matches in Dominica from Friday until next Wednesday.
At the conclusion of these matches, a Northern Windward Islands Squad will be selected to participate in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) 2015 Super 50 Tournament which will be hosted in Trinidad and Tobago, 3-17 August 3-17.
St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada will be engaged in a similar series to select the Southern Windward Islands Team.
The Saint Lucia team will be coached by former national, Windward Islands and West Indies A batsman, John Eugene, and managed by former West Indies allrounder Eugena Gregg, with former West Indies player Philippa Thomas Eudovic as trainer.
According to Gregg, the team is very confident going into the series with Dominica. Bursting with youthful talent and bolstered by several experienced players, Gregg says the intention is to get some eight players on the final squad.
The final XIV is led by Gros Islet’s Yasmine St Ange with Ashlene Edward of South Castries as her deputy. Other players from Gros Islet include exciting teenager Quiana Joseph, veteran allrounder Swayline William, Gemma Brigitte and Malika Edward.
Choiseul, who have been doing great work in pushing women’s cricket, have old hand Roylin Cooper joining youngsters like Solange Aubert, Nicole St Prix and Allyah Alfred on the team.
Aside from Ashlene Edward, South Castries is also represented by teenager Nerissa Crafton and Paulina Francis. Hailing from Dennery is Joanne Alphonse, whilst Laborie has Leona Emmanuel included
