PRESS RELEASE – On Sunday 21 September at Marine Park in Brooklyn, Emperial scored 163 all out from 27.5 overs in the Final of the 2014 Brooklyn Cricket League Knockout championship.

Foster Lewis played a captain’s knock, a brilliant 60, Bjor Brown 36 and Don Paris 22.

Bowling for Saint Lucia Masters, Victor Mangal, bowling his slow medium pacers, took 4 wickets for 26 runs from 5.5 overs, Richard Moncherry 2 for 28 from 6 overs, Winston Celestine 1 for 40 from 7 overs, and Peter Francis 1 for 43 from 7 overs.

Saint Lucia needed just 18.3 overs and lost only five wickets in reaching their target, making 165. Master blaster Creed Fontenelle compiled a whirlwind 66 (9 x 4s, 1 x 6), Captain Libert Serieux was 30 not out, (2 x 4s, 2 x 6s), Boom Boom Jacob Emmanuel a lusty 28 (4 x 4s, 1 x 6).

Bowling for Emperial, leg spinner Byron Mars took 2 for 43 from 5 overs, T. Sami 1 for 58 from 7 overs, Charles 1 for 23 from 5 overs.

Saint Lucia won by five wickets, their second Championship this season, also having taken the Brooklyn Cricket League 40 overs championship.

Congratulations to Saint Lucia, the best all-round team in the Brooklyn Cricket League for 2014.
