PRESS RELEASE –
Representatives from Invest Saint Lucia were among delegates who attended the recently held 4th Annual Summit of the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators and Developers (NABHOOD).

The basis for ISL’s attendance was to meet with potential investors, highlight real investment prospects within the Tourism Sector in particular and solidify Saint Lucia’s position as an investment destination in general.

“Accepting the kind invitation of the CEO and founder of NABHOOD, Mr. Andy Ingraham, to attend the 4th Annual NABHOOD Summit, was seen as an opportunity to meet with potential investors and sell them the real investments that are available in the tourism sector,” cited McHale Andrew, CEO of Invest Saint Lucia.

“We are of the view that it was well worth the effort and that there are some very encouraging signs of a resurgent interest in Saint Lucia as an investment location,” he added.

Given the expected high level of attendees, ISL’s delegation was led by Chairman Costello Michel and included Deputy Chairman Gordon Charles and CEO McHale Andrew, who was also a panelist on the “Caribbean Investment Opportunities” session on the afternoon of Friday July 18th.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, added to Saint Lucia’s presence as a featured speaker and special guest of NABHOOD. At the luncheon held on Friday July 18th, which honoured a number of NABHOOD members and students, the Prime Minster delivered the feature address in which he made a passionate and convincing appeal for consideration of Saint Lucia as both an attractive investment location and winning tourism “Investment Never Looked Better”destination. The PM was preceded by veteran Congressman and influential leader of the Congressional Black Caucus, Congressman Alcee Hastings of Florida, who pledged support for Saint Lucia’s efforts aimed at catalyzing inward investment.

The Saint Lucian delegation attended both the plenary and breakout workshop sessions, which provided useful information on trends in the US and Caribbean hotel investment markets as well as on new investment financing mechanisms, emerging tourism investment opportunities and structuring of hotel investment projects.

The local delegation presented potential investors and key Summit participants with information on tourism investment opportunities and key facts on the country, designed to assist the exploratory efforts of potential businesses interested in investing in Saint Lucia.

The 4th Annual NABHOOD Summit took place in Biscayne Bay, Miami from July 16th to 19th 2014.

  1. The management of invest st Lucia living the high life always attending something or the other and yet we not seeing any new investments which would create jobs. Can the ministry which is responsible for internal affairs serve that same purpose. Is that office adding anything to the economy or has it been a job for the boys from one government after the other

  2. while our clueless prime minister and his expired comrades travel to Miami, the arabs have invested in a 120 million dollar resort in Antigua. the very same st.lucia real estate market our beloved prime minister said was doing well, is actually at a halt. while countries like GRENADA, belize and Barbados are being featured amongst the best places in the Caribbean to invest in property. The real estate markets in these countries are taking off, while we have a bunch of clueless Dinosaurs in government.
We have a committee for everything in this country yielding zero results. we spend 11 million dollars on a bridge which brings in zero income in a time of crisis. we have three lawyers in charge of our most critical sectors in this country, KENNY ANTHONY, LORNE THEOPHILUS, BERNARD LACORBINIERRE, YET OUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS A SEWER.WELL WELL WELL, A NIGHT SCHOOL STUDENT IN ECONOMICS WOULD KNOW THAT VAT AT AN IMMEDIATE 15% WOULD KILL THE ECONOMY.

  3. Does impact mean investments? Or, does it mean well-dressed up men drinking refreshments and being glad for the overseas shopping trip?
