(PRESS RELEASE) — The Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) recently made a donation of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to the Ministry of Health and Wellness to aid front-line workers in the fight against COVID-19.
Country Programme Specialist for PAHO Reynold Hewitt says his organization remains committed to providing support in the prevention and control of the spread of COVID-19 in Saint Lucia.
“This is the fourth donation of PPEs to the Government of Saint Lucia and we intend to work together to ensure that the health system is prepared to respond to any threat that COVID-19 presents. This donation of PPEs consists of 17,500 surgical masks, 550 N95 masks, and 800 testing swabs. PAHO stands resolute and in solidarity with all countries as we work with you in your response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Minister for Health & Wellness Sen. Hon Mary Isaac expressed gratitude to PAHO for the donation and says it is quite significant in Saint Lucia’s response to COVID-19.
“Once again we are seeing where PAHO has come to our assistance as they usually do and this is just one part of many presentations that we have received and we are going to continue to receive from PAHO our partners in this fight. I want to thank PAHO/ WHO for their contribution towards our fight against COVID-19 in Saint Lucia. They have been instrumental in providing us with the necessary assistance, training as well as supplies for us to combat this fight.”
