(SNO) — Saint Lucia has expanded travel restrictions to several European countries effective Tuesday, March 17 due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet said that travelers from mainland France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom and Iran will now face restrictions.

“We have also strengthened our protocols for screening visitors arriving at both the air and sea ports,” he stated.

On February 4, Saint Lucia first imposed travel restriction on travelers from China. The Asian country has been the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.

Three weeks later it was extended to include Japan, Republic of Korea, Italy and Singapore.
