PRESS RELEASE – As part of activities to commemorate Social Work Month, the Saint Lucia Association of Social Workers and United and Strong Inc have organized a debate slated for Wednesday March 30th, 2016 at the Beanfield Comprehensive Secondary School commencing at 3:30 pm. During this activity the speakers will deliberate on the topic: “National inadequacies in responding to cases of sexual violence is the primary reason for gender based violence”.
The organizations have found it fitting to implement this event in light of recent reported cases of rape and other forms of sexual violence.
The objective of this debate is to develop the critical thinking, communication and research skills of social work students. In addition, it will serve as an avenue through which recommendations to can be made by the youth as it pertains to reducing the incidence of sexual and gender based violence. Thus, the Saint Lucia Association of Social Workers and United and Strong Inc cordially invite the public to make a special effort to attend this very important activity.
The debate forms part of the United Nations Development Programme – Social Innovation for Change Project being implemented by United and Strong Inc Saint Lucia under their What’s Your Position Project.
