Saint Lucia are Windwards U15 Cricket CHAMPIONS!

(SNO) — Saint Lucia defeated Grenada by seven wickets on Monday at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros Islet to lift the 2018 WINLOTT Windward Islands Under-15 Cricket Championship.

Grenada scored 100 runs in 43.1 overs. Kervyn Gangadeen continued his solid displays by adding 33. Jude Joseph took 3-9, and Royce Paul 2-27.

Saint Lucia lost just three wickets and used up only 26.1 overs, as they got to 104 with a boundary, handing the defending champs only their second loss of the competition, and sparking ecstatic celebrations from onlookers.

Kevin Gassie was not out on 51, and Shawnil Edward 21 not out.

Among those watching were former West Indies captain, Daren Sammy, whose son, Daren Jr, is on Team Saint Lucia. Also present during the tournament was former Minister of Sports, and Member of Parliament for Dennery North, Shawn Edward, whose son, Shawnil, is also on the team.
