PRESS RELEASE – Remarks given by Jennifer Ephraim, Advisor, Sagicor Life Inc, at the presentation of the Saint Lucia Swim Team for the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Swimming Championship, Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre, on Saturday 25 October:
“I would like to thank the Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association (SLASA) for inviting me to say a few words today. I first want to congratulate SLASA on their successful Championship last year and I wish you good luck with this year’s event.
“All of the swimmers assembled here today should be very proud of their achievement: a chance to represent Saint Lucia in national competition. This is no small feat and therefore I think you should give yourselves a round of applause.”
“Sagicor Life Inc is pleased to offer our full support to the competing teams of the OECS Swimming Championship for another year. We firmly believe that the discipline learnt through sport and the rigorous physical training put in to become top athletes are excellent life skills for children and adolescents to acquire.”
“We also applaud the dedication to physical activity which the participating coaches and junior swimmers have shown, for this can help to reverse the dangerous trend of rising cases of chronic diseases in our region.”
“For several years Sagicor Life Inc has played a key role in bringing these worthwhile championships to fruition. As a regional insurance company in operation for over 170 years, we recognise the importance of contributing to our communities and promoting development in the areas of sport, health and the welfare of our young people.
“On behalf of my colleagues here in Saint Lucia and across the region, I want to wish all the swimmers good luck and we look forward to an exciting Championship.”
