Sagicor sponsors Christmas Tennis Tournament 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) – Sagicor Inc continues to support the development of tennis throughout the island as they have partnered with the St. Lucia Tennis Association once again to host the Annual Christmas Tennis Tournament, 2019. The tournament will be hosted at the St. Lucia National Tennis Centre in Beausejour from 16th-20th December, 2019.

In staging this event and by adding to the sporting calendar, much needed match play is provided through organized competition for the local national players. Such an avenue improves participant’s tennis capabilities while also affording opportunities for social interaction between athletes nationwide.

Defending champion in the girls U18 Jorja Mederick & Iyana Paul both participated in the Sagicor COTECC u14 tennis tournament making the main draw with Paul advancing to the second round. They will be competing in the u18 category against counterparts from the Tigers Inflow Tennis Academy Aviona Edmund, Nadjema Morille and Jace Leon.

In the boys 18s Arden Rosemond will also be competing to retain his title against counterparts from the Tigers Inflow Tennis Academy and Acers Tennis Academy. Rosemond is currently a member of the VL Tennis Academy coached by Vernon Lewis. Aaron Gerald and Petterson George are names to look out for in this draw which seems very competitive and not so predictable. Also coming from a long tournament break Joey Angeloni has decided to restart competing at least locally for now and will also be vying for the u18 boy’s championship.

In the u14 Amara Jn. Marie ranked N0. 5 in the National u14 ranking will be battling out against Latoya Murray and Amelia Rosemond. Eridania McVane, Ebony Nicholas and Janae Williams will be making their debut in national competition at this tournament, we wish them all well. No. 3 ranked u14s boy Jonas Sylvesterwill be the no. one seed in the boys 14s draw challenging Corey Charles, Ronaldo St. Juste Brandon Eugene and Nathanael Charles for Championship title.

Anaiah Bousquet will face Jaelyn Henry, Brianna Jn Baptiste, Maelyse Soochan and Amia Jn Marie for the girl’s green ball event. In the boys Peter Murray, Mathew George, Soren Clairmont and Xhan Riviere are among the names vying for the Boys green ball championship.

In the U10s new on the scene Sanjay Lake (Acers Tennis Academy) will be competing in the Orange Ball against counterparts from Total Tennis Club Kyle Michel Francois and Kai Alexander and Blanchard’s Tennis Academy Andretti George. Girls Hannah McNamara, Jordyn Bishamber and Samuella Bertrand will be battling it out on centre court for the title. The u10s is the largest category with at least forty entries that is the red, orange and green ball.
