PRESS RELEASE – Five years ago today, we tragically lost two Icons of St Lucia’s Visual Arts and Culture: Sabinus & Eugenia Thomas who shared immense passion and dedication to the local arts and craft, and its roots in our everyday lives and culture.
Maestros in their own gifted rights, the two humbly shared their space and opportunities by harnessing the creativity of many gifted artists who would otherwise never have been discovered.
Their Livity Art Studio was always a live and open museum, and was the fitting greeting to every visitor entering Soufriere – in a kaleidoscope of colour and culture. Your first impression of La Soufriere was always Art at Columbette.
The art of “Livity” depicted the story of a proud people and has been featured in Europe, United States and especially the UK. In many instances, Eugenia travelled to Dominica for exchanges with local artisans, sharing similarity in culture and carving Technics.
The result was a fusion of impressions as is vivid in the popular and now almost ubiquitous Calabash Art.
Their works and efforts attracted the patronage of many including; International designers, top hotels and especially DMCs such as Serenity Vacations.
We pay humble tribute to Sabinus & Eugenia in the fondest of memories and these few photos Sh
On this the fifth anniversary of their untimely departure, we invite all to join us in remembering these iconic figures – gone but certainly never forgotten.
