POLICE PRESS RELEASE –
About 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 17, 2014, police received a report that three armed men dressed in polo shirts carrying the crest of the RSLPF, one of whom was wearing a bullet proof vest with the word “POLICE” written on it, robbed the IGY Marina Dry Docks located in Rodney Bay of approximately $10,000.00.

The armed bandits then made their escape using a white panel van registration number PK 219.

The RSLPF is actively pursuing leads which should result in the apprehension of these individuals. However, if anyone has information which can assist with the speedy investigation of this matter, they should contact the Gros Islet Police Station at telephone numbers 456 3830 or 999.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) would like to disassociate the organization from this incident. The RSLPF would like to inform the public that as per Standing Order No. 1 of 2011 “wearing of Polo Shirts with the Police crest and the word Police written at the back, by police officers is strictly prohibited.”

  6. Also some ``not all'' police officers when they approach you or come to do a search and you ask them to identify themselves they usually take offense and treat you like a piece of shit and want to give you gun butt and all kinds of things.....I am not talking about something I over heard someone saying......I have witnessed it happen on several occasions. So what is Joe Public supposed to do.......some of them don't even have a search warrant and they want to break down your door to come in......as far as I know that is illegal......so I believe that the RSLPF have some serious short comings when it comes to that and they really need to pull up their socks......The law says that you are innocent until proven guilty......but the way some of them operate is that you're guilty until proven innocent......smh!

  7. So what you're telling me is that is an individual wearing one of those polo shirts with the police crest and the word POLICE written on the back approaches me in any situation I should ignore their request......because I have seen known Police Officers wearing that kind of attire.

  8. Until some of us remove our heads from our dierres we can and will go nowhere in this Lil country. The police isn't responsible for every bird shit that lands in your door step. Let's educate ourselves and stop acting like we know everything. Take responsibility for ourselves and stop jumping on the police back at every opportunity presented.

  10. Aa. Just saying had good points, we do have crooked police. Where did they get the crest and the bullet proof vest. How can we identify real police now. Omg! All fall down,

  11. Are you serious?
This situation is brought by police who refuse at times to identify themselves, until the hierarchy of the force make it mandatory for police to identify themselves. SO UNTIL THAT HAPPENS ITS THE BLOODY POLICE THAT DO IT. Its high time we realize in this country that the details we overlook wil come back to haunt us , so start identifying yourselves properly............. P.S I AM CRITICIZING MY OWN......

  12. Reason why every police polo shirt that is part of the uniform and bullet proof vest should have an officers last name along with a badge number, similar to the NYPD. That force is a mess being Dan like 1960 still. Simple stuff like that can avoid a lot of stuff.

  13. officers you'll lie , POLICE thats do it now you"ll want to talk about impostors, the hierarchy of the force know that gros islet stations are the most delinquent officers you will find on island........don't come and say impostors we know thats bullshit.........

    • just saying,

How do you know the RSLPF is lying? Apparently you took part in the robbery with them to know they are lying. If you have nothing constructive to say or discuss, keep your asinine thoughts to yourself or tell it to the fool in the mirror. Anyway, this is NOT the first time people have impersonated RSLPF Police Officers to commit crime(s). People, as a precaution, when Police arrive at your residence or place of business on a so-called bust, call the Station from where they said they're from to verify their information. I'm pretty sure if Police is going on a bust, the individual who's in charge at the Police Station will know, so call the Station to verify. Also, ask for their badge number(s). A little thinking can go a long way.

      • u think when police come and point a gun at you, that u will hav time to call the station. they tellin u don't move..if u try to pick up the phone they will shoot n say is a gun u were goin for. lets be real about how police operate in st lucia. they use excessive force. if u ask for badge they will curse u and say u insulting them. that is the REALITY. so what u talkin there....tha can not happen the way police operate on this island.

    • Maybe that is something that should be advertised to the public. Let them know changes in identification/uniforms to at least reduce the chances of imposters.
