The new house system has teams competing under the names of four former commissioners, Scholar, Phillips, Nelson and Lawrence.
In the opening game, Scholar House batted first, Sheldon Thorpe hitting 48 in their total of 156 for 4 off 13 overs. Cyril Charles chipped in with 41, and Alleyne Prospere added 37. Phillips House struggled in response, getting to just 95 for 6 from their 13 overs. Ked Cadasse made 34, but Charles – playing the Sunil Narine role! – took 3 for 3. He was named Man Of The Match as Scholar House won by 61 runs.
The second game was only marginally more competitive. Nelson House made 144 for 7 off 20 overs. Bernard Gaston made 45, and Alvin Prospere took 4 wickets for 34 runs. The present Commissioner, Vernon Francois, took 1 for 25.
In reply, Lawrence House was on course to overhaul the required total, but wickets fell too quickly, and they ended all out for 110 off 15 overs. The Palmer boys combined for eight wickets.
