The 3rd place matchup was between the Dennery under 21 and the Castries under 21, with the grand final between the Gros islet Under 21 and the Mon Repos Under 21 teams. Supporters of both teams and fans of the game all in one voice cheering for the show put on by the teams.
Dennery lost to the Central Castries under 21 by 1 goal with a score line of 1 – 0, the winning goal was scored by Luc Miller in the 23rd minute of play. The promising Dennery team did not live up to expectations although it periodically showed its true ability. Its inability to sustain the pressure on the Central Castries Team contributed to its demise. The Dennery Team however must be proud to have made it to the Semifinal and third place paly off out of nineteen district teams. They Placed fourth in the championship.
The “finals match” of the tournament was played between the Gros Islet under 21 and the Mon Repos under 21. In this the last match of the afternoon, after exhausting regulation time, Gros Islet and Mon Repos went to extra time with Mon Repos scoring the first goal of the match. Two minutes after Mon Repos’s Yod Fevrier who scored in the 107th minute of play, Aramis Gilbert of the Gros Islet under 21 equalized in the 109th minute in extra time. The score remained at one goal a piece and according to regulations had to be determined by shots to the goal. (Penalty Kicks)
The game proceeded to a penalty shootout during which the Mon Repos’s goalkeeper was extraordinary and virtually won the match as he saved a number of the Gros Islet’s penalty attempts. The penalty shootout score line ended at 4 – 1, with Mon Repos claiming the championship title of the 2014 SAINT LUCIA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION’S ROYAL CLUB UNDER 21 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
