Routine maintenance, testing to disrupt traffic flow along Castries/Gros Islet Highway this Sunday

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Energy informs the general public of routine maintenance work to be undertaken on the median barriers between the Choc and Vigie Roundabout on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 9 a.m.

As such, traffic will be reduced to a single lane. The necessary cones, traffic signs, and flags will be in place for safety and direction.

Additionally, on Sunday, March 13, 2020, C.O Williams Construction Company will be undertaken testing of the ride-ability of the final surface on the Sandals to Choc Road Widening Project.

These tests are designed to ascertain whether the contractor met the Department’s specifications for the project.

As a result, the northbound carriageway between the Friendship Inn and Choc roundabouts will be closed.

The southbound dual lanes will be converted into two-way traffic, which means that one lane will accommodate southbound traffic while the other lane will accommodate northbound traffic.

Motorists and all road users are urged to be guided by the cones, traffic and directional signs posted for public safety.

The Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Energy apologises for any inconvenience.
