PRESS RELEASE – The Ministry of Infrastructure has officially announced the reopening of the Rodney Bay section of the Castries-Gros Islet roadway, following completion of repairs to a failed culvert.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, is pleased to announce that the construction work to repair the failed culverts opposite the JQ Rodney Bay mall are complete, and that the Gros Islet roadway is now open to normal traffic.
Minister Pierre thanked the following persons and organizations for their support over the past two weeks: Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet, Hon. Emma Hippolyte; The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force especially ASP Ronald Phillip, and members of the Gros Islet and Babonneau Police Stations for managing traffic along the diversions over the past two weeks; Gros Islet and Monchy Mini Bus Drivers; staff of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport; the contractor and his staff; and residents and motorists for their cooperation and understanding.
The Ministry of Infrastructure reminds motorists to observe speed limits and continue to drive safely.
