Plans are underway soon to repair a section of a road in Cedar’s Height, Vieux-Fort that residents have described as dangerous, a government official said.
The road, located at the intersection of Martha’s Tyre Service, was closed because of a loosened grill that exposes the drain in the road.
However, in a November 20 article on St. Lucia News Online (SNO), a resident said that, that section of the road is in need of “urgent” repairs.
The road has been “inaccessible” for over six months now, the resident added.
“Nothing has been done about it. This has been so forever,” the resident said.
The resident also complained about the generally deplorable condition of the roads in the community.
Jadia Jn Pierre-Emmanuel, the press secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, responded to the article within minutes, via the comments section on Facebook.
The government official promised that the road will be repaired soon.
“As far as I am aware, that section of the road has been closed because of the danger posed by the grill. Prime Minister [Kenny Anthony] visited with officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure two, three weeks ago. The road is currently being designed and will be constructed in concrete,” Jn Pierre-Emmanuel stated.
She also promised to “bring this call to the Prime Minister’s attention” and expressed gratitude for “highlighting because it is indeed an issue of concern”.
