PRESS RELEASE – Four weeks of competitive Domino action came to an end at Rosemadin’s Bar on Sunday afternoon in Patience, Mon Repos. A well appreciative crowd assembled to witness the Finals of the Mon Repos Domino Masters’ Inaugural Mokia 3 Hand Domino Competition.
There was lots of chatter about the home team as it was believed that home advantage would play a huge factor in finals, but it was not to be. Kool Vibes, the Bar from Micoud was riding high on their community’s success in the Black heart football finals the previous night and thought they would take home that same success.
Silently, it was the Bar from La Point, Ocean View, that was most determined and saw that title go home.
At the start of the first round, Kool Vibes and Ocean View were tied at the top with Rosemadin’s Bar lagging far behind. Rosemadin’s Bar was never able to recover, however, after the fourth round the contest was lopsided with Kool Vibes up by 10 points over their closest rival, Ocean View.
In the fifth and penultimate round, the game of dominos borrowed a phrase from cricket, “A game of glorious uncertainties,” when Ocean View won that round and went up two points on Kool Vibes.
The crowd went up in an uproar as they appreciated Ocean View taking the lead for the first time. With only the last round to go, all Ocean View had to do was maintain the lead, and so they did. Scores in the finals:
Ocean View — 79 points
Kool Vibes — 74 points
Rosemadin’s Bar — 64 points
