PRESS RELEASE – St. Lucia Fire Service has now booked their place into the 2nd consecutive finals in the KFC Commercial Basketball League this coming Saturday 4th October, and will try to better last year’s runners up result when they face Goddard Group.
Last evening’s double-header semi-finals saw comfortable wins for both Goddard Group over Scotia Bank and Fire Service against Media All Stars.
In game 1 of the evening Goddard got past Scotia Bank 70 – 57 to reach their first final in the KFC Commercial Basketball League. KFC Player of the game Ali Quinlad led the scoring with 26pts and 6rebs, Andre Louison chipped in with 20pts, 11rebs and 7 steals and Dillan Biscette had 10pts and 22rebs.
For Scotia, Shamoir Jn. Baptiste led their scoring with 32pts and 7rebs. Ron Edward also added 13pts and 8rebs in their semi-final loss.
In semi-final two, Fire Service dealt a first loss of the competition to the Media All Stars 62 – 41. They proved to be too much on the night for a Media team that was booming with confidence after getting past defending champions Police in the quarterfinals. KFC Player of the game Jerry Charles led the scoring for Fire Service with 17pts and 4rebs and Marcian Calderon contributed 14pts and 16rebs. Elijah Williams had 11pts and 13rebs for Media and Ryan Headley added 10pts and 6rebs in their loss.
The finals are now set for this coming Saturday October 4th, 2014 first with the third place game between Media Ballerz and Scotia Bank at 6pm followed by the championship game between Goddard Group and St. Lucia Fire Service at 8pm.
The curtains will then close on a successful and competitive KFC Commercial Basketball League with the medals and trophies presentation right after the game.
