PRESS RELEASE – Media Ballerz continued their perfect start to this year’s Commercial Basketball League last evening when they defeated Scotia Bank 63 – 56 in the first game of the midweek double header.

In their final game of the group stages, Media (4-0) has recorded their 4th successive win which is a complete turnaround from their last year’s performance when they failed to win a single game out of their group stage.

Congratulations to the Media Association team for being the first to qualify out of Group C to the quarterfinal knockout stages.  Four players finished in double figures for the Media team with KFC Player of the Game Elijah Williams leading the way with a double-double of 20pts and 19rebs.

They also received valuable contributions from both Ryan Headley and Arthur Lisson with 12pts each.   Shamoir Jn Baptiste continued his scoring prowess for Scotia Bank finishing with 38pts and 5rebs, and Adrian Cox added 12pts and 13rebs in Scotia’s penultimate game (1-2).

Scotia close-off on Saturday against Insurance All Stars, needing a win to help their chances of progress to the quarterfinals.

In game 2 of last evening’s double-header, two teams desperately searching for their first win in group B battled when LeSport faced Ministry of Public Service.

LeSport emerged victorious in that game 40 – 36 in a low scoring affair sending Public Service home to regroup  with a winless (0-4) record in their first ever Commercial Basketball League participation.

KFC Player of the game Martin JnBaptiste had a near triple-double with a game high 15pts, 10rebs and 7 steals for LeSport.  For Public Service Tarcicius Jordan finished 13pts and 14rebs in their loss.

Tournament will now move to its final weekend of group stage matchups starting on Friday with two huge qualification games.  First, Inland Revenue vs. Goddard Group at 7pm in Group B, followed by Sandals Trail Blazers vs. Fire Service at 9pm from Group A.

On Saturday from 6pm, in Group C Insurance All Stars vs. Scotia Bank and at 8pm in Group A Renwick vs. RSLPF (Police).

The teams that have progressed thus far to the quarterfinals are Media Association (4-0) and Sandals High Risers (3-1) both from Group C, and from Group B Digicel 4G (3-0).
