PRESS RELEASE – On Saturday in Division 1 action in Gros Islet, Combined Forces won easily over Courts Jets Co-Ed 100-52 in the first of the night’s doubleheader.

The KFC player of that game was Calious Dantes with 37pts and 12rebs.  Shervon Matthew also chipped in with 15pts and 18rebs.  Akim Evans for Courts Jets Co-Ed had a team-high 24pts and 6rebs in their loss.

In game two, Combined Schools was also impressive against Sandals Resorts Int’l with a 64-52 win.  Pakel Gumbs from Combined Schools acclaimed the Player of the Game with a double-double of 15pts and 15rebs.  Gaspard Thomas for Sandals also had a double-double of 19pts and 10rebs in their loss.

At the Vigie Sports Complex, Premier League action continued also on Saturday with a doubleheader.

The first game featured Morne Gladiators winning over Canaries 64 – 51.  Craig Duplessis was the Player of the Game with 13pts and 4rebs.  Charles Alexander was the standout performance for Canaries with 15pts and 4rebs.

Game 2 of the doubleheader was a battle from Premier League giants defending champion Courts Jets vs. VBCC Warlords.

VBCC made things interesting late coming from a 20-point deficit early to take the lead 70-69 with .28 secs to go.  In true Courts Jets fashion, new acquisition Larry Shepherd for Jets with his calm deamenour spoiled VBCC’s party with a game-winning jumper to secure their third win (71-70) in as many games.

Andre Louison was the KFC Player of the Game with 28pts and 6rebs.  Ron Dumurville also chipped in with 16pts and 5rebs.  For VBCC, Jerry Charles had 22pts and 4rebs in their loss.

On Sunday, at the Vigie Sports Complex another doubleheader was centre court first with Maranatha Eagles vs. Lions in Division 1.

Lions won that close encounter 67-64 behind a game-winning performance from KFC Player of the Game Fabian Florton scoring 17pts and 6rebs.  For Maranatha, Dave Headley had 16pts and 5rebs in their loss.

In game two, Babonneau Dynasty got past Dennery Dolphins 98-81.  KFC Player of that Game Leonard Emmanuel had a huge 34pts and 6steals to steer his team to victory.  For Dennery, Kevin Mathurin also had a great performance with 32pts, 7rebs and 8steals in their loss.

Games continue tomorrow, Tuesday with Division 1 action, Maranatha Eagles vs Courts Jets Co-Ed in Gros Islet and at the Complex Combined Schools vs. Combined Forces.  Both games tip off at 7pm.
