RESULTS: 2016 KFC National Basketball League

basketball-jpgPRESS RELEASE – Week four of the Saint Lucia Basketball Federation (SLBF) and title sponsor KFC’s National Basketball League began with two Division 1 first round matches Tuesday.

The VBCC Youth team took on the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports complex where the police took full advantage of the youth’s inexperience logging a final score of 119 to 18.

Player of the Game Amil Octave filled the stat sheets with 31 points, 3 rebounds, 11 steals, 8 assists and only one turnover.

Calious Dantes also came up big for the Police logging 28 points, 8 rebounds, 9 steals, 6 assist and one bloc

6 RSLPF players scored in double digits.

The second matchup at the Beausejour indoor facility saw a much closer contested game between the Courts Jets Coed Team and Lions.

Lions got the better of Courts Jets 78-73 but not before a brilliant play by Jets’ Laura John in the final seconds of the fourth to force overtime.

The teams went head to head during the extra period but Lions managed to pull away slightly, largely due to an all round performance by KFC Player of the Game Carlos Solomon who logged 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, one steal. Lions captain Fabian Florton continued his stellar scoring display for the 2016 season with a team high 27 points.

Matches continue Thursday May 5th -this time in the Premier League 2015 finalist VBCC will take on Soufriere in the West Coast town while their arch rivals and defending champs Courts Jets will look to extend their winning record against the Morne at the Vigie Complex.
