Recognition claim submitted to Labour Department

Security Guards employed with Security Services Ltd will now be in a position to be represented by a trade union. This development is as a result of a recognition representational claim made on behalf of the guards by the National Workers Union (NWU).

The company carried out is own investigations to determine the legitimacy of the NWU’s claim. Having been satisfied with the union’s claim, the company informed the Acting Labour Commissioner, Mr. Ray Narcisse of its willingness to grant the NWU official recognition to represent its employees in all matters dealing with their conditions of employment.

The National Workers Union has received the Recognition Certificate from the Department of Labour.

Meanwhile the Management of Alternative Security Ltd. and the NWU will meet on Thursday, September 11, 2014 to discuss representational issues for workers employed with that company.
