Public and teaching service commissions appointed

A new Public Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission have been appointed to oversee the appointment, discipline and removal of public officers to and from the public service.

Pursuant to Section 85 (1) of the Constitution of Saint Lucia, the governor general, acting on the advice of the prime minister after consultation with the leader of the opposition, has appointed the following persons to be members of the Public Service Commission effective April 1, 2013:

1.    Claude Paul (Chairman);
2.    Wilbert King, MBE;
3.    Fidelis Williams;
4.    Lorraine Sidonie; and
5.    Renee St. Rose.

The Commission will serve for a period of three years.

Likewise, Her Excellency the Governor General, the governor general, acting on the advice of the prime minister after consultation with the leader of the opposition, has appointed, pursuant to Section 92 (1) of the Constitution of Saint Lucia, the following persons to the Teaching Service Commission, effective April 1, 2013:

1.    Claude Paul (Chairman);
2.    Virginia Albert-Poyotte, SLPM, OBE;
3.    Leonise Francois;
4.    Agatha James; and
5.    Effrem Edgar.

Both Commissions have been appointed for a period of three years.
