Protest planned against alleged dismissal of CSA member

protestSTATEMENT – Dear brothers and sisters, we are about to send a strong message to the NEC of their unconstitutional action.

One of our hardworking, dedicated staff and CSA member who pay her dues like every one of us, services has been terminated. Her insurance skills have caused a number of members to receive the kind of help needed when they encounter difficulties with health situations. She would do all in her power to see that the member gets that help by working around the situation for them.

It is so sad to see a union who is to “unite and fight for members right” would take such an action by terminating the services of a staff and union member, Mrs. Darius without given due notice.

This termination was done by the NEC in the name of the general membership under a mandate they claimed came from the general membership. Imagine the NEC sent Sister Darius to process on retirement contrary to the NIC Act which makes provision for contributors to retire at the age of 65. A courtesy which was extended to our members in the Central Service by the Government a few months ago.

In light of the above, we should condemn this act and provide support to her. In solidarity with the sister Darius and the Secretariat staff, we requesting that you join the protest match organized by the staff on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 9.30 a.m. on the CSA grounds, Sans Souci.

This action will send a clear message to those wicked, heartless unconstitutional executive members that this must stop now.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SAVE OUR UNION TEAM

  1. So now i am hearing the CSA insurance broker who is part of the Save the union was greasing that lady hand to keep it moist. I am beginning to believe that this executive is setting things straight in this union and some people are not comfortable with that. People use to spend the members money lavishly. 750,000.00 for renovations that doesnt look anything like a renovation, people using union money to go to hotel to do nastiness, people using union money to bring food at their homes, kickbacks on jobs for their labour party friends, certain men in cahoots with the employers setting up employees to be fired and the list goes on. Soon i heard a file with lots of filth will be made public

  2. Pierre and Mary will cause this union to fail. Would it be fair if your employer approved your vacation for December and turns around in November and decides you MUST go on vacation in November. When you return you are greeted with a dismissal letter, telling you the organisation is restructuring and its time for you to retire . How would you feel. Shouldn't retirement be something you plan and be given the option IF U decide u want to go earlier. can your employer really make these choices for u. well a union that represents workers just did? And these are the unconstitutional issues that members and staff are facing under Mary and Pierre and their blind mice executive and their hand pick "general council" ROBOTS.

    • You got it all wrong Non Political CSA Member, It seems you are a part of the scandal of old people that are there. Its time we make a change. New Executive new decisions. The staff are causing the most confusion because they are in objection to every decision the executive makes. Aubertin next he is the biggest political head in this building.. .

  3. CSA sadly will fail at the hands of Pierre and Mary. Is it fair, if your EMPLOYER approves your vacation for DECEMBER and turns around in November and decides you MUST go on vacation in Nov. On your return you are greeted with a dismissal letter saying you are retired and CSA is restructuring so go home. A union representing workers constitute this as a legal and justified action.

  4. You guys in this so called ''save our union'' thing have the same problem with Stephenson King, you all can't accept defeat. N.I.C has no such rule saying contributors have to or must retire at age 65. What N.I.C has is an age at which a contributor can start receiving retirement benefits. Retirement has nothing to do with age. What if someone wants to retire at age 40, are you saying they can't do that? That is why the union was against the change made by the N.I.C because some people will be retired and still have to wait a few years for their N.I.C pension. Stop peddling misinformation.

    • How can this be defeat when neither parties were not in a contest or running an election. We in this country have politics as a staple in our daily lives; we breathe, eat and sleep politics.FACTS Mary won the presidency of CSA fair and square, when she painted CSA everything went down hill. Thereafter the relay baton of the union`s leadership has changed hands unconstitutionally.

Your other point on retirement age was well said ....."if someone wants to retire........can they do so" YES but Mrs Darius the unfair dismissed member of staff did not ask to retire........Another fact for you to understand. This union headed by Pierre and these blind mice will cost us members our union. At least the save the union team fear no one and are speaking out against this injustice

  5. I agree that the content should have been clearer, so persons reading the story for the first time would understand the reason behind the protest. FACTS: The CSA worker dismissed is not 60; she was wrongfully dismissed "terminated", "Fired" by the CSA executive after being forced on vacation; upon her return to work on Thursday 19th she was greeted to a dismissal letter. Question is ? Was this dismissal action justified? Do you think it is right? Would you want to be dismissed like this? That is the reason for the protest. Too often we hear and see things happen around us and say and do nothing about it. All CSA members especially members of the insurance who know Mrs Darius come out and support. UPDATE: The protest was stalled this morning because the Staff were called to a staff meeting. STAY TUNE, the PROTEST will be held another day.

  6. I DONT WANT TO TAKE SIDES BUT THE ISSUE HERE IS THE WAY IN WHICH THE ENTIRE SITUATION WENT DOWN.

i FIND FOR AN ORGANIZATION THAT CLAIMS TO REPRESENT WORKERS, THAT IS NOT THE WAY YOU TREAT YOUR OWN. I AM KINDDA CONFUSED. HOW WOULD YOU HAVE REPRESENTED ONE OF US CIVIL SERVANT IF IT WE TO HAPPEN TO US. THE LADY IS A UNION MEMBER, SO WHO WILL REPRESENT HER NOW.

CIVIL SERVANTS WE MUST STOP THIS NONESENSE, THAT BUSINESS WE HAVE MIXING POLITICS IN EVERYTHING WE DO. THAT IS BULL AND WE HAVE TO LEARN TO SEPERATE IT SERIOUSLY.

I HAD NO INTEREST BEFORE IN THE WAY THOSE SO CALLED "SAVE YOUR UNION" MEMBERS WENT ABOUT DOING THEIR THING BUT YOU BET I WILL BE PART OF THIS UNFAIR DISMISSAL OF MS DARIUS.

I HAVE SEEN THE WAY IN WHICH THIS LADY GOES ABOUT LOOKING AFTER OUR BUSINESS AT CSA. THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT HAD TO USE HER SERVICE WHEN IT COMES TO OUR MEDICAL INSURANCE PROBABLY CANT SAY MUCH BUT THAT LADY WAS A GOD SENT TO CSA.

WE NEED TO LOOK AT AND CHECK OUR BUSINESS AT CSA. EVER WONDERED WHY WE HAVE BEEN GETTING OUR CLAIMS BACK SO LATE. YOU FIND OUT.

YOU'LL BETTER FORGET THE POLITICS THING AND CHECK ON YOU'LL BUSINESS. AT THE END OF THE DAY NO POLITICIAN WILL PAY MY MEDICAL BILLS FOR ME.

  7. lol menapause people .. They afraid of change . It was high time this happened . They should get rid of all of them .

    (1)(2)

  8. There should be a separation of politics from CSA. The majority in the executive has a political agenda. See where Isaac is now.

    (6)(2)

    • And the small group of mendicants have a political agenda. One of home was parachuted into the public service.

  9. So Lilia Auguste is on the Government negotiating team negotiating against civil servants and at the same time trying to cause mayhem within that CSA. Tanto tanto

  10. To me that lady retired and ask to be paid her gratuity so what is her stress. Isnt that lady over 60? Make way for young people Kenkeneze

  11. I AM confused reading this article. Very bad writer. Does not provide us with a historical neither a descriptive context. What exactly is the situation that members are asked to take action for?

    (9)(0)

  12. Planners of this so called protest must be more scrupulous and organised if they want their members to take them seriously. You are calling out your members to participate in a match but you have failed to indicate whether its a football, cricket or netball match, so that members wishing to take part can dress in the appropriate sporting attire. Get real people so that those you wish to provide alternative representation can take you seriously.

    (9)(0)

  13. Planners of this so called protest must be more meticulous and far better prepared and organised than if they are to begin to look like alternative leaders.
You speak of organising a protest match but have not said whether its a football, cricket or basket ball match you plan to have. I am sure the few wishing to take part would need to dress in the appropriate sporting attire. Now please decide on the exact nature of your protest.

  14. I am happy they fired her . Get rid of these pot holes . No one cares about y'all match . If she died now , not someone else y'all will need . Now make her non existent.

    (1)(3)

  15. Hen what story are you talking about? What department is your dismissed worker from? Your guys are so political.

    (1)(1)

  16. Im so happy they sent her bloody disgusting attitude self home . It's high time they dismiss those people who sit on these bloody chairs eating our money until they old . Give the young people a chance . The same people she was in wrath with that's the ones that pity her now . This ... lady must have some power over them. She is ..., go away !

    (3)(0)

  17. Yes, fire their arse everyone of them in the service who thinks that because their party in power they can do what the heck they want. The moment you see that slp contributors on slap get involve you know it have to do with blind politics. I wish to see the day when civil servants were not that vocal politically and knew how to serve the government of the day without exposing their colour.
