Government has said an island-wide desilting initiative which falls under pre-hurricane preparedness efforts by the Ministry of Infrastructure Ports Services and Transport is being hindered in the Bexon/Marc community after a property owner refused to allow workers access to a river in the area.

The ministry, in that regard, has set a meeting for this morning, July 4, 2013 to address this issue, according to a press release.

It is feared, according to the press release, that failure to desilt the river may put a number of lives and property at risk in the event of heavy rainfall.

The meeting takes place in the open area after the first bridge along the Bexon/Marc road from 10 a.m.
