CANADA – Four Brantford-based businessmen plan to make helping small businesses and schools in St. Lucia a huge part of their coming year.

The 30 Days of Progress development project was launched earlier this month when the St. Lucian consulate in Toronto approved the project partners’ request to travel to the south Caribbean island in November.

With Nov. 1 departure and Dec. 1 return dates pencilled into the calendar, the four will spend their time in St. Lucia doing hands-on work with a group of small businesses and schools.

“I wanted to do something no one else was doing in the area,” explained Booming Business’ Doug Radkey, who came up with the idea while plotting out his projects for 2013.

    • When it comes to Saint Lucia’s small business community, we know their micro and small businesses have the potential to create and expand employment opportunities, develop entrepreneurial skills, enhance market opportunities, and encourage export promotion and import substitution. By hands on, we will work WITH them to build strategic marketing campaigns, online presence, operational training, and ways to generate revenue, from both a local & tourism perspective. We are equally excited to teach the students leadership & and entrepreneurial skills, the foundations for sustainable communities. We have gained a lot of support and are extremely excited to work with the wonderful people & communities of Saint Lucia.
