PRESS RELEASE – Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony has expressed deep sorrow and anguish at the news of a plane crash in the Republic of China (Taiwan) that resulted in the loss of 49 lives.

In a letter to Ambassador for the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Saint to Lucia, H.E. James Chang, dated July 24, 2014, Prime Minister Anthony wrote,

“I wish to extend on behalf of the Government and people of Saint Lucia our deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on this unfortunate occasion, marked so gravely with sorrow.

We mourn with you and deeply empathize this terrible and painful loss of lives. We know that this is a doleful and stern moment for your government and people. Saint Lucia stands with you as a committed and trusted friend as you seek to come to terms with this national tragedy.

Your Excellency, please convey these sentiments to your Government, and in particular to President Ma. I know personally that tragedies such as these are extremely painful for families, relatives and friends, and for those who are charged with the responsibility of leadership.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.”

The Prime Minister has called on Saint Lucians to offer prayers for the families of those who were killed as well as the nine survivors who have to live through the tragic memories of such an ordeal.

The TransAsia Flight GE222 crashed on Penghu Island on July 23 2014. There were 54 passengers 4 crew members on board.

  1. Yes mr Kenny Anthony you come and expressed deep sorrow of a plane crash in the Republic of China (Taiwan) that resulted in the result of 49 people losing they lives that I am deeply sorry for, but what happen to the many lucians that lost their liver not once you can come on tv to express or commented on lucians loosing their live witch I fine its rather unfair, not because the Taiwanese giving you money to move our sweet lucia in debt and you eating it all up doesn't mean you can't feel sorrow for our own people kenny you need to go let a none lucian run this country

  2. Wonderful job sir. Condolences to all those who have been involved in all kinds of tragedies and sorrows all over the world, and to those White and or rich ones in St. Lucia condolences to them and their families. But to the ordinary Lucian ducking bullets in their homes and neighborhoods, to those who don't know where their next meal is coming from, to those whose children no longer feel safe, to those whose relative die in hospitals from neglect and malpractice or at the hands of police, to those who die in their homes who die from preventable diseases like mosquito borne viruses . . . No expressions of condolence. well (Like Kermit The Frog), that's none of your business right?

  3. Good job Mr. Anthony , quick question : Why in gods name are we inviting Russians to the country fully knowing what is happening between Russia Europe and the U.S, I notice we have been silent, but min. Of ext. affairs , help out. Are we going to be like Cuba and open a Russian base as well. Let us know or we will just have to come up with assumption , like what I just did.

    • Why are we inviting Americans to our shores knowing full well, how they do plot to destroy our economies, destabilize our countries, dictate to us who are our allies, then later are seen in "Bed" with the same nations.
      Does China ring a bell?
