On Monday, December 30, 2013, Prime Minister Dr. Kenny D. Anthony met members of the Diplomatic Corps to brief them on the trough and its after effects on Saint Lucia.
The prime minister also updated the Diplomatic Corps on the recovery efforts and priority areas for assistance.
During the meeting, an aerial view of the damage caused by the heavy rainfall was presented by Dawn French of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).
Members of Cabinet as well as other technical officers in the various Ministries reported on the level of damage sustained in the various sectors and the actions taken by agencies to deal with the challenges faced by them.
Prime Minister Anthony says this meeting was essential to ensure that there is a clear and informed understanding of the impact of the trough. During the meeting, he emphasized that the impact on the tourism infrastructure was minimal and that the airports have been restored to full functionality.
Dr. Anthony took the opportunity to thank the assembled ambassadors for their words of condolence and support.
