On Friday, July 26, 2013, heads of state and governments from around the world will gather in the Republic of Cuba to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel De Cespedes Garissons.

The 60th anniversary celebration includes a cultural gala, an official wreath-laying ceremony as well as a tour to the Moncada Garrison, which is now a historic museum.

Prime Minister Dr. Kenny D. Anthony will lead a four-member delegation to Cuba for the observance. The delegation departed Saint Lucia on a Cuban aircraft on Thursday, July 25, 2013 and returns on Saturday, July 27, 2013.

The Saint Lucian delegation includes Minister for Commerce, Business Development, Investment and Consumer Affairs Emma Hippolyte; Cabinet Secretary Darrel Montrope, and Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Jadia Jn. Pierre-Emmanuel.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, Philip J. Pierre, has been appointed to act as prime minister during the absence of Dr. Anthony.
