The British High Commissioner to Saint Lucia played host to United and Strong’s members, staff and supported with a Cocktail reception.
The reception held on Wednesday 17th May 2017 commemorated the international celebration of IDAHOT 2017 under the theme “Families”.
Supporters such as Mr. Dave Charles and Mr. Akim Larcher along with His Excellency Mr. Steve McCready gave brief remarks focused on the importance of the theme and the relevance of the day.
Their remarks highlighted how the family constitutes the very first environment of any person, including members of the LGBTQI community.
This is the place where values are shaped and transmitted, where security and safety is provided, and the place where self-esteem and confidence are constructed.
Families, therefore, have great powers and great responsibilities in the moral and physical well being of their members.
Launched in 2004, the International Day Against Homophobia commemorating that day has become a global occasion to educate about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, and to advocate for sensible public policies regarding LGBT persons.
United and Strong extends its gratitude to the British High Commissioner, his staff for their hospitality along with members and supporters for thier presence. We look forward to IDAHOT 2018.
