PRESS RELEASE: The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, Empowerment, Youth Development, Culture, Sports and Local Government celebrates Msgr. Dr. Patrick ‘Paba’ Anthony

Msgr. Dr. Patrick ‘Paba’ Anthony celebrated his 70th birthday on August 6th, 2017. Msgr Anthony is the Founder of the Folk Research Centre (FRC), which is 44 years old this year.

In recognition of his great contribution to St. Lucia’s social life in the areas of religion and culture, the Folk Research Centre hosted a cultural evening on Wednesday August 9th at 7 pm at the FRC Headquarters at Mount Pleasant.

Minister for Culture, Sen. Hon. Fortuna Belrose applauded the initiative by FRC and stated that Msgr. Dr. Patrick Anthony is an exceptional role model for Saint Lucians: “My ideal cultural icon would be a Paba and I hope to see some of these qualities in Saint Lucians out there.”

“Pada on behalf of the Government of Saint Lucia congratulations on getting to the age of Seventy (70). Furthermore I want to thank you as a citizen of Saint Lucia for your contribution to our cultural heritage. ”

Among other items on the programme, an announcement was made regarding the renaming of the FRC to Msgr. Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre.

He also received a Gift from the Minister of Culture, a sculpture Produced by Jallim Eudovic and a manuscript handbook on St. Lucian culture.
