PRESS RELEASE: Chamber mourns passing of Chris Husbands

The sudden passing of former President and current 1st Vice President of the St Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Christian Ferrer Irving Husbands, is a most difficult heart loss, one which the institution will have difficulty coming to grips with.

Christian served as a Chamber Board Member for over eight years two of which he served as President, bringing his quiet, yet determined composure and balance to his every effort. His personable and affable manner permitted him to reach all who he met as he treated all with the same intimate respect and dignity regardless of station. His quiet disposition and sharp wit, was accompanied by an inquisitive mind and caring heart.

He had a passion for the Agricultural Sector which he lamented; St. Lucia was ignoring and not taking advantage of the tremendous and numerous opportunities which he saw. He served as the Manager and Representative for Union Vale Estate, which allowed him to stay close to the sector which he understood and loved and in which he had been privately involved with in his earlier days.

His deep sense of community drove him to ensure that the Chamber maintained a Corporate Social Responsibility Agenda, through its Junior Achievement, Sports Program and St. Lucia Youth Business Trust, the latter which he ensured was established while he served as President of the Chamber. He assumed, without hesitation, the role of Chairman of Junior Achievement in 2012 and led the organization with exquisite aplomb, winning him and Junior Achievement

St. Lucia the respect and accolades of other programs in the region and Junior Achievement International.

Christian leaves behind an outstanding and impressive legacy of programs which he championed and initiated in many spheres of endeavor including, youth development, sports, education, community development, business, banking, health and private sector development.

The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture, Junior Achievement St. Lucia and the St. Lucia Youth Business Trust have lost a great supporter and champion. His wonderful personality and staunch character have left an indelible mark on all that he was involved with.

Christian leaves behind a loving family, relatives and many friends. We have all lost a dear and loving friend. The world is a lesser place for his departure. He will be remembered.

Fare thee well our friend.
