PRESS RELEASE: Anse La Raye Carnival Queen Pageant scheduled for July 28, 2017

The much awaited “Anse La Raye Carnival Queen ” Pageant will be held on July 28, 2017, at the famed Anse-La-Raye Primary School.

Produced by the newly formed “Anse-La-Raye Pageant Committee ”, the annual pageant is a catalyst for social change and development and elevation of young women in the various communities of Anse La Raye/Canaries namely Jacmel, Millet, Roseau, Anse La Raye Village and Canaries.

The winner goes on to prepare for the prestigious St. Lucia Carnival Queen Pageant. The pageant brings together some of the most beautiful and talented women in the District, each of whom adopts the community where they are from to represent.The Anse La Raye Carnival Queen pageant has showcased the beauty, diversity, talent and intelligence of women.

The pageant serves as a venue for the community, and interested groups to join together to understand the life, challenges and struggles that young people face in Anse-La-Raye Canaries and to celebrate the triumphs and victories of this strong and courageous community.

For the candidates, the pageant provides many benefits. It serves to boost their confidence, self-esteem and self worth. It is crucial, that these beautiful and wonderful young women be reminded of their true worth, dignity and poise as young women preparing to join the ranks of society.

The Anse La Raye Pageant Committee hopes that its contestants and winners go on to pursue careers in art, entertainment, business, healthcare and the law and hope to assist them in these ventures. The pageant forges bonds and unity in a divided community. Through the pageants,lifelong friendships are formed, young women find mentors and find support from a family where they are accepted and appreciated.

The pageant serves as a platform where we can bring to light our advocacies. For a community that is often neglected, the pageant serves as a means to deliver our message to the public–that the young women of Anse La Raye are deserving of equal opportunity afforded to all St. Lucians.
