President of India began official visit to Cuba with honors to Fidel

(ACN) – The President of the Republic of India, Ram Nath Kovind, today began an official visit to Cuba in this city, where he paid tribute to the historical leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz, in the patrimonial cemetery Santa Ifigenia.

Upon their arrival at the necropolis of Santiago de Cuba, the hymns of Cuba and India were heard. The President then witnessed the ceremony of change of the Guard Honor on the path of the Founding Fathers of the Cuban Nation, accompanied by Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, vice president of the Council of State and president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power.

Before the monolith with the ashes of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz since December 4, 2016, the distinguished visitor deposited a floral offering, together with his wife, Mrs. Savita Kovind. He also placed flowers in the Mausoleum of the National Hero José Martí and in the tombs of Father of the Homeland Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and the mother of all Cubans Mariana Grajales. He highlighted in the visitor’s book the role played by Fidel in the Non-Aligned Movement and praised the bonds of friendship that united him to India, a nation he visited on two occasions.

In his life Fidel always exemplified with strength, conviction and courage, values ​​that are currently present in his memorial, wrote Ram Nath Kovind, who is in Cuba for the first time.
