Recent stab victim Dona Joseph says she is afraid that her attacker will strike again.

Joseph, 23, of Ciceron, Castries said she doesn’t know where or who else to turn to for help.

During an interview with St Lucia News Online (SNO) yesterday, August 20, cries of fear were heard as the pregnant woman related her story.

Joseph, who was stabbed several times in Castries on Friday, August 8, told SNO that she feels threatened by her alleged attacker, 19-year-old Sanya Degazon.

“I am fearful for my life, I see her often, since she lives only a few yards away from me…… I feeling scared and afraid because she can come back and do me the same thing or worst…,” an emotional Joseph told SNO.

Joseph, who is now recovering at home, said she has made many attempts to take Degazon to court and accuses the investigating officer of dragging his feet.

“He told me I can go to higher authorities and could take the matter into my own hand, if I want it to be dealt with. I am still waiting for a court date. I asked the officer about my case and he told me the accused knows of the matter and was told nothing further,” she added.

A confused Joseph told SNO: “I am trying to get the matter resolved because I feel the case will finish and nothing will come out of it.”

Joseph and her attacker apparently had several rows before but it never escalated to a point where any of the individuals were physically injured.

Degazon shares three children with Joseph’s boyfriend.

Degazon was released on self-bail on Sunday, August 10, while Joseph was released from hospital on Wednesday, August 13.

  3. Why is she not under arrest? As a matter of fact if this woman is killed one day by the other woman the police is more responsible for her death than her killer...i fail to understand what is happening now in st.lucia not even is iraq such things happen..shame on the prime minister, shame on all the other politicians, lawyers, judges and every other person who represents the justice ssystem in st.lucia,,,

  4. Regardless of the Victim's stubbornness no verbal augment warrants a stabbing. The scary issue here is why the accused in not in custody. If I am not mistaken attacking a pregnant woman with a deadly weapon is attempted murder or at least aggravated assault. People we have serious issues when it comes to law enforcement in St.Lucia among another things

  6. It's so sad that we are blaming the victim. If the stabbing was fatal and the unborn baby died as well, would you still think that the perpetrator's intent was justified? No matter what someone says you have no right to put your hands on him/her. Like it was suggested the victim should have backed down but the perpetrator also has that option. Her act was criminal; she needs to face the charges for her criminal behavior.

  7. Who dont want to hear will feel, by the looks of those comments here and of the previous comments related to this story, donna and her fam seem to be no saints, some ppl look for trouble with u until they give u cause to hurt them, then turn around and make they self the victim, u walk on the girl before u got ur plock and was not scared to, now u get plock u scared, some ppl jus dont quite til they feel. I guess you learn now when to back down.

  8. Self bail on an indictable matter. Sounds like this officer knows the accused well. This is attempted Murder and you dont get self bail for attempted murder unless that person is charged summarily on wounding, and this is not a case of just wounding. An attempt to kill was present. Some officers just making the Royal St Lucia Police Force look even worst than it already is. Sad Sad Sad

  9. So True to the last comment.... what has 758 really become ? Because i cant say a country anymore, simply because we don't fight for each other but rather more at each other.. come on st lucia. And women gain some pride.

  10. I understand that this female make fear for her life, however my question is "Why at the time before she got injured she did not turn away as she was advised too?" In previous articles it was said that persons who witnessed the altercation advised her to leave and forget the woman, but no she had to fight which resulted in her being stabbed.
I would have thought that she would have taken into consideration the wellbeing of her unborn child. Her actions have indicated what type of mother she is. It's all about her and no one else, not even her unborn child.
At this time I think that this female should avoid the other, avoid any form of confrontation that is for your safety and that of your unborn child. Oh but yes in the meantime as you await the officer to complete his case file, how about you looking at getting a Protection Order from the court against your enemy

  17. If it was a male youth from the grave yard, police would riddle his body with bullets or even give him a hong kong set up, the hierarchy of the force stop sitting on your butts and make things happen don't wait for this young lady to be found dead.................self bail for an assault with a weapon total utter nonsense, well under La Corbs watch really not surrprise the man always look like he smoke an ounce of mar j.....
