The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has responded to the recent spate of shootings that have resulted in the deaths of three people.

Acting Police Commissioner Errol Alexander said the force will do all in its power to get to the bottom of these shootings.

Alexander has condemned the violent acts and warned criminals that the police will do what is required to stop them.

He said at a news conference today that the police do not want an escalation of crime, to the point where people are afraid to walk on the streets.

“We will do what we have to do to protect ourselves and citizens,” he asserted.

The senior police official told the media that “the police are not down and out” and will intensify its investigations to find out who were responsible for the shootings in Castries.

Alexander has also appealed to citizens to come forward with any information they may have in relation to these shootings.

The acting police commissioner said persons with knowledge of the crimes should not be afraid to come forward, as the information will be kept confidential.

  4. If I was in danger of being charged by the DPP for doing my job as the police who were in ORC are, I too would let the criminals run wild and hold this country under siege. After all, you never know when Kenny might call in Jamaicans to investigate me! Let Kenny and the US and the Jamaican police deal with that!

  11. Crime and gun violence have been on the increase in St.Lucia for some time now. It is quite evident that our police force as is presently, lacks the ability to maintain law and order in this country.

Government needs to do a complete restructuring of the RSLPC in order to deal with this new reality. We cannot continue to have have misfits in leadership positions. We need individuals who possess the requisites, training and experience needed to run this organization.

    • The Job of the police is to seek, arrest and bring to justice those who have done wrong.
They cannot stop or prevent crime.

The mind-set of the people must change.

  13. I am no friend of the police and I think I prefer it to remain that way. But I think I am with them in this time of need. Smoke them out wherever they are. Just don't give the Mary francis's of this world an excuse to cry 'human rights'.
