The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has responded to the recent spate of shootings that have resulted in the deaths of three people.
Acting Police Commissioner Errol Alexander said the force will do all in its power to get to the bottom of these shootings.
Alexander has condemned the violent acts and warned criminals that the police will do what is required to stop them.
He said at a news conference today that the police do not want an escalation of crime, to the point where people are afraid to walk on the streets.
“We will do what we have to do to protect ourselves and citizens,” he asserted.
The senior police official told the media that “the police are not down and out” and will intensify its investigations to find out who were responsible for the shootings in Castries.
Alexander has also appealed to citizens to come forward with any information they may have in relation to these shootings.
The acting police commissioner said persons with knowledge of the crimes should not be afraid to come forward, as the information will be kept confidential.
