Police officer charged for hitting man with gun; granted bail

A police officer who is accused of hitting a Castries man in the head with his firearm was granted bail when he appeared in court today.

Special Police Constable 221 Nestor Flemius, who is attached to the Special Services Unit, was on Sunday, Dec. 2, charged for the offense of grievous harm.

In a Gros Islet court on Monday, Dec. 3, a magistrate granted Flemius $8,000 bail with cash or suitable.

A police press release stated that 35-year-old Amrand James of City Gate, Castries suffered “facial paralysis after receiving a blow to the left ear area with a firearm by the police officer” on Friday, November 23, 2012 at about 3 am at City Gate, Castries.

Flemius was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 28 and charged last Sunday, Dec. 2.

  1. this officer deserve to be punish the hard way cause he shud be setting examples and making the country a better place. He is actually destroying it and makes st lucia look like a bad place for tourist. He deserve to be put behind bars. Majority of people join the police force to get back at someone or even to cover their dirty acts. get me sick
