Police confirm Friday night shooting in Castries

shootingPolice have confirmed a shooting in Castries on Friday.

The shooting occurred at around 11:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the taxi stand/CDC building area.

Public Relations Officer Zachary Hippolyte told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today (July 20) that a police officer responded to a report of an individual being assaulted.

Hippolyte said upon arriving at the scene, the officer gave chase after the alleged suspect and while doing so, the lawman was shot at.

The officer responded by discharging a round of ammunition, which led to an individual sustaining a “flesh wound.” The individual was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and later released.

Hippolyte could not say whether the alleged suspect was caught.

Details are still sketchy and the matter is still being investigated.

  1. the police needs to be more careful....what if the person who got wounded had die. jus so a life lost and they were not even the person doing the crime.....

  2. Lucians like to be in harms way. They want to be the one to break the news in it's entirety. Please ppl try your best to keep away from the danger zone

  3. I don't want to come across as beating up on the police or faulting their every action but that said they do have to be more careful when discharging their weapons in public areas. Being shot at as a police officer is as serious as it gets you want to stop that individual before they strike again but not if it means hitting a member of the public in doing so.I remember an incident on a bus where innocent people were shot while trying to get one guy.Keep up the good work but be more judicious in the discharging of your guns in public.
