PM: Hyper Mart project “a sink and not a source of government revenues”; property up for sale

The Hyper Mart building and land is for sale.

The Hyper Mart building and lands located in Bois D’Orange is up for sale.

This is consistent with pronouncements made by Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs, Planning and Social Security, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony during the 2012/2013 Budget Statement.

During his presentation, the prime minister, who described the project as “a sink and not a source of government revenues”, revealed that government would require an additional loan of EC$86.5 million to undertake this project.

The prime minister expressed that this level of borrowing could not be justified given Saint Lucia’s fiscal situation and as such, the government will, after consultation with the bank offer the property for sale.

The advertisement for sale of the property, which originated from the Office of the Prime Minister, appeared in the Saint Lucia Government Gazette, issue 13 of April 2, 2013.

Post Office Box 1842,
General Post Office,
Castries ,
Saint Lucia.

The details of the property for sale are as follows:

Property: Hyper Mart Building and Lands
Location: Bois d’Orange, Gros Islet
Area of Building: Approximately 182,175 square fee
Area of Land: 227,119 square feet/5.21 acres

The property is located opposite the Rubis Service Station at the Bois d’Orange on the Castries/Gros-Islet Highway and is zoned as commercial.

Interested persons can make arrangements with Mr. Mario Lendor at 485-3743 to visit the property.

The deadline date for receipt of offers is April 30, 2013.
