PRESS RELEASE – Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony leaves the state today for Kingstown, St. Vincent, to attend a meeting of the Monetary Council of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
At that meeting, Prime Minister Anthony will also hand over the chairmanship of the ECCB Monetary Council to Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Prime Minister will also participate in a meeting of the OECS Authority, which will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Matters for consideration and discussion include the application by the French Caribbean Overseas Regions to the OECS and the scheduling of the 2nd Sitting of the Assembly of OECS Parliamentarians.
Thereafter, Dr. Anthony will travel to Trinidad and Tobago, to participate in the first CARICOM – Japan Summit. Apart from the multilateral engagements between CARICOM and Japan, the Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, will be engaged in bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Shinzo Abe, in an effort to secure assistance for Saint Lucia in strategic areas.
The CARICOM – Japan Summit will be held in Port of Spain on Monday, July 28, 2014. Dr. Anthony is expected to return to Saint Lucia later that evening.
During Dr. Anthony’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, will act as Prime Minister.
