PRESS RELEASE – Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has described the latest action of UWP leader, Allen Chastanet – to write to a number of unknown organisations, criticising the Citizenship by Investment Programme – as the worst case of desperation, which borders on an act of disloyalty to Saint Lucia and to its people.

The Prime Minister contends that Mr. Chastanet has shown a callousness and disregard for the welfare and interest of Saint Lucians by seeking to destroy a programme that is geared to bring benefits to Saint Lucians at a time when the economy is starting to rebound.

According to Dr. Anthony,“I am compelled to ask whether Mr. Chastanet is against any progress being made by Saint Lucia? Is he simply anti-Saint Lucian? Or is he finally accepting that Saint Lucians are not responding to his politics of hate and divisiveness? Does the UWP leader believe that by becoming more outrageous and more vicious he will attract more attention?

“If Mr. Chastanet is to be judged by his utterances, it is clear that he is now fast becoming the Donald Trump of Saint Lucian politics.”

The Prime Minister added, “It is shocking that despite Mr. Chastanet’s party support in Parliament for the CIP, the involvement of representatives of his party on the Task Force that recommended the CIP, he embarks on a continuous and ludicrous attempt to economically sabotage the very country that he yearns to lead. It is time that Chastanet discontinues his unabated stream of attention-seeking untruths and malicious actions.”

The Prime Minister calls on all Saint Lucians to condemn the unpatriotic actions of Mr. Chastanet. Dr. Anthony states that the Government of Saint Lucia believes in Saint Lucia and in the capacity of Saint Lucians to achieve economic progress through hard work. Dr. Anthony concluded:

“I urge all Saint Lucians to disregard and repudiate those actions of Mr. Chastanet, aimed at impeding the island’s economic recovery. Soon enough the public will come to know the real reasons for the actions of Mr. Chastanet.”

  1. That was deliberately started as a conversation for real idiots. Those who fancy themselves as leaders should not and refrain from be picking up their national development ideas from alongside the kunkunez areas of our countryside marketplaces especially. You only get from such places all the very banal, lift up your dress, hardscrabble, silly stuff.

  2. Kenny, Mr. Chastanet is a St. Lucian and he does have the interest of St. Lucia at heart. He has questioned your actions because you want to push citizenship by investment down my throat to choke me. May be if King was the Opposition leader you would have succeeded with no questions asked, because you believe King is dumb. You said he only has two certificates. His marriage certificate and his Birth Certificate. Well Mr. Chastanet has more that that, and it is for this reason he will challenge you. I am indeed happy he is the Donald Trump of St. Lucia because you are dead scared of him, he will keep you in check.

  3. Chastenet is probably worried that CIP is attracting the wrong attention:

  4. Kenny, that is your opinion, please do not try to force it down our throats, period. Also you will also try to pass laws to make your opinion law.
Your time is soon coming up

    • Saint Lucia is the most badly mismanaged country in the hemisphere ranking below Cuba, Haiti and Venezuela. Morons run all these places.

  5. The High Commission for Saint Lucia and Dominica share the same Offices in London. Maybe they shared the same corrupt government thinking. Dominica granted diplomacy and citizenship to a Nigerian who is under investigation for corruption in the UK. We are now a safe haven for criminals who have money to buy citizenship!

  6. This country is most certainly not going to do itself any favours by retaining, however stupidly, this very inappropriate British cultural heritage and political system and a person who has been such a financial blight and disaster for us all. Party supporters cannot be relied upon to do the right thing for this country. We must elect the opposition or even better, a coalition government.

The financial blunders are staggering! The impacts are even more devastating, with increased national debt to pay for non-existing and assets literally handed over to foreigners in exchange for no tangible products or services.

With absolutely no regulatory protection for the consumers of insurance services in the entire region, the framers and midwives of the CSME agreement left policy holders exposed to very high risks of exposure and property loss.

Insurance policies bought throughout the region, could not be used as collateral for individual loans. This caused the shaving of about 2-5% annual GDP growth in every country, from all the way in the Bahamas to TNT in the south. People are still suffering, where there was a destruction of financial capital by policy holders of the now famous CLICO.

We need a regional study to measure the impact of the economic/financial loss to the entire region. The outlook of market watchers for the future of this region has not even yet taken into account, the financial impact on household savings of this financial disaster.

Locally, we have lost under the SLP to the Rochamel disaster US $48 million, to the funny investment and transfer of titles to lands in Black Bay in Vieux Fort some U$ 86 million, and to the secret signing away of our rights to our seabed, US $150 million. Which CEO in any major corporation either in the EU or the Euro-zone countries, Britain, Canada, Japan or the US would be holding his or her job after such a litany of financial disasters? Which? Only in better days Saint Lucia.

No single party has yet presented a slate of candidates of the calibre that can move this country forward. The incumbent government has lost its way, daily and publicly catching at straws to make a positive impression. All the time, the country is spirally downwards, going to the dogs and being readied to accommodate all kinds of criminal vermin from abroad. SLP calls that CIP. It is really SLP's idea of superlative political economy, with CIP meaning CRIMINAL INSIDER POLITICS

  7. Comparing Chastenet to Donald Trump, should make him feel really good. is the p.m suggesting that like Trump, Chastenet is leading the race, and is most likely to become the next prime minister of St.Lucia as is the situation with trump, who I think will be the next U.S president.

  8. Our untrustworthy Looshan country bucks refuse to see, or are just too much just mere morons to realize that the world has changed all around them. How the hell can such people have any good answers to our problems, when they are so passe, old-fashioned, pathetically unenlightened, and so freaking irrelevant?
Only those who are steeped in their backward peasant hinterland upbringings, and not knowing any better, cannot adapt to our world, or have a feel for the changed world around them.
Such political antiques and dinosaurs like Comrade Fidel Castro, for a very long time now, should have long been put to pasture.
Country bucks evidently suffer from a very severe form of arrested development. That is why, just like Castro and Friends, they are so damn and stupidly irrelevant.

  9. Few Saint Lucian politicians, have any credibility left. People in this country have been fed a diet of lies upon lies especially the top brass of this administration. You believe anything without checking it for yourself at your own peril. They cannot be trusted on anything and about anything. Shameless liars all.

  10. Very interesting. While Chastanet trying to bring about change. More openness, accountability, transparency and better governance Kenny still there manouevering in the old ways of the dark. Secrecy in Roachmel. Secrecy in Grynberg and now secrecy in Jufalli

    (87)(13)

  11. we need a socialist party thats the only way to go! back in the day these parties made some sense now the both have become irrelevant. now its all talk, empty promises and desperation! now is the time for adaptation not division! the air is changing, the sea is rising, our rivers running dry, our soil is less fertile. we need a government that will educate bring on some consciousness, we as a people must have a system of social living . we must think for our children and stop joining those circus clowns! the capitalist days are done bring on the social before its to late!!

    (2)(27)

  12. (33)(18)

    • You did it again kenny you are taking advantage of the low level of understanding in lucians and tricking dem again...Don't worry you will get another chance next election to give us some more beggar days

      (40)(5)

  13. Any defense of Chastnet autrocious letter against St Lucia's drive for economic development is borderline naive and ignorant even unpatriotic. I don't like Kenny and his party but the Desperation of you people to dignify Chastnet's rubbish makes the opposition look even more incompetent. I am not convinced the he wants the best for us or that he will do better than the other idiots in power he is simply worse e worser smh. So many educated people in St Lucia and we cya find a decent group of individual with the true interest of StLucian at heart to form a reliable government?

    (22)(84)

    • Maybe your name should have read "Makak" instead of "Maka" because the ignorance of the matter speaks volume about your evolutionary state.

      (43)(20)

      • This is exactly the type of ignorance I am talking about. My nickname should not be the point of attention, typical of the type of the demographic of Chastnet's campaign. If I am ignorant it stems from the understanding of your thinking but on the matter at hand I am able to think more critically and adjective than you do.

        (0)(7)

  14. This Chastanet is nothing more than a child who thinks national affairs is like playing with kiddies building blocks.
Does he think St Lucia is his big sandbox?

This flat footed big headed albatros must never be hung around St Lucia's neck!

    (20)(82)

  15. The only one who is unpatriotic is Kenny Anthony. He makes decisions that is not popular with the electorate. He should reflect on the various occasions that he has made decisions that is not in keeping with proper protocol. He is nothing but a dictator and should be banned by the Saint Lucian public by not ever running again for political office. Everyone in Saint Lucia knows that this is your one ambition.

    (68)(13)

  16. Kenny I suggest that you go on SLAP and post your rubbish there, because that's where all the ignorant, dumbass hacks, who swallow everything you say are. You urge all St. Lucians? Who de ass make you believe that I would listen to anything you have to say? For that matter, it is people like you who make me wish life had a mute button!!! Instead of coming here with your arrogant, pompous and self righteous self go elsewhere.

    (104)(13)

  17. I suspect the SLP statement yesterday, on the matter, put a feather in Chastanet's hat so the PM, in desperation, had to come and talk more shit.

    (43)(6)

  18. WHAT????? Desperation? Come clean with the Juffalli visit to St Lucia. If the Juffalli issue is an example of the CIP, we are in shit. You need to come clean with that issue.

    (56)(8)

  19. Dont really care for politicians , but Kenny the only you stay around is play the sympathy card. if those earlier comments are true , look like your supporters you have to worry about. Just before election play the sympathy card , maybe the people will feel sorry for you and re elect you.

P.S. for the past few weeks , the government responses seem to make opposition APPEAR stronger, what happen , are you'll politicians writing you'll own responses, smh, we saw bad that went with previous administration. Please politicians use the people you'll hire around to speak , write and mostly think, god bless us if you'll ever have to the write ,speak or think independently......................

    (37)(3)

  20. It is NOT at not very surprising. The PM is interested in construction jobs. That is the focus of his FDI. Notice his repeated calls for new hotel structures that will make eventually for an oversupply of beds and rooms in Saint Lucia. The hotels will finally have to bring down their prices to survive. Their future is at stake. But there is more to this than what meets the eye.

The PM has no science background. Therefore it is unfair to expect him to even understand the basics of health care and the industry.

His attitude is "those who are sick, just too bad." Perhaps, it is his idea of cost cutting in the health sector. Fewer patients now to be treated means lower short-term costs to the government. The government looks good!

So tell me this. After all these years, the world does not know that black people have a greater tendency than whites to have diabetes? Are there not health regimes to first manage, and even reverse diabetes? They don't teach that in Cuba? Sorry. I did not know that.

    (73)(4)

  21. CHASTNET HAS WRITTEN OUT OF CONCERN FOR ST.LUCIA, YOU AND YOUR BOYS ARE THE ONES WHO KEEP SELLING OUR ISLAND FOR WE DONT KNOW. HE IS RIGHT FOR AIRING THE CONCERN OF THE PEOPLE OF ST.LUCIA . HE HAS MADE SOME RECOMENDATIONS WHY HAVE YOU NOT LOOK AT IT AND DISCUSS. I AM ALSO VERY WEARY OF MY ISLAND BEING IN THE HAND OF YOUR CIP PERSONS. WHY IS HILAIRE THE BOSS MAN OF CIP. KENNY YOU SELLING OUT ST.LUCIA. TIME TO GO

    (71)(6)

  22. Nonsense. Juffali has shown that this Government cannot be trusted and that a passport or citizenship can be traded for dubious reasons. There is still no answer as to why he was given a passport... Just smoke, mirrors and bluffing. CIP could potentially make local unscrupulous politicians millionaires overnight. This is already playing out. The US and UK will not be amused by these shenanigans and all of us will suffer as a result.

KDA has shown his patriotism by allegdely breaking the law to "give away" (you think?) St. Lucia's seabed to Jack Grynberg and then hiding it from ALL St. Lucians for 9 years.

KDA loves St. Lucians so much that he has given all the major works in St. Lucia to two labour aligned construction companies whilst other companies and equipment owners are left to collapse.

St. Lucians can rest assured that EH's campaign will be very well funded by the $$$$$$$$$,

    (52)(4)

  23. This response reeks of the same. You two are mirror images of lousy societal problem. There is no getting away from this. Both of you feel a sense of entitlement. Both of you are embarrassingly careless when spending other people's money. Only that Kenny has a much longer and mind-numbing record of egregious financial blunderings and financial black-holes.

A government that has been in office for two consecutive terms has all its hacks in key positions to continue with its political mischief, its failures, and especially its cover-ups. With the two of you misfits, it is always the same difference.
