PRESS RELEASE – Prime Minister Honourable Allen Chastanet has called for prayers and support for the families of those affected by an explosion which occurred in the Cul de Sac area on Tuesday evening (March 21st).

Early reports indicate that there has been loss of life and significant injuries to several persons.

Speaking from the Victoria Hospital where several of the injured were taken following the incident Prime Minister Chastanet said: “Our hearts go out to those who lost loved ones and those who are still waiting to find out information about their family members. You are all in our prayers in this difficult time. We must all support each other at this time and pray for our fellow Saint Lucians.

“We must say thanks to the emergency personnel, the police and fire officers, who responded to the incident and who are still working tirelessly into the night at the site to find persons. The staff, the nurses and doctors, of the Victoria Hospital, who responded, some without being called and who are working overtime to attend to the injured must be thanked for their selfless dedication in the wake of this crisis. We should be so proud of all the staff and emergency response persons. This is testimony to what we can do as a people if we work together.”

The Prime Minister added that this incident has taken the nation by shock and expressed profound grief over the loss of life.

  2. When the SDA Pastor ask to change the sports date , most of you all were upset .so many negative comments were posted just because the God of Heaven said to remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy.

?? My heartfelt condolences goes out to all the families and friends who have suffered loss. ??
Let's remember that this is also a traumatic event and that proper counseling should be made available to all employees.

  10. Well said Mr Chastanet . Mr Chastanet why did you get involved with politics . I know you can do better than that
why give yourself so much headache .
    Leave them in their mess.

    • He is just a compassionate man who does not realize we as a people no not have an attitude of gratitude

    • And your point is?? ..... Your comments don't mirror the tone/sentiments expressed by the prime minister whom you claim to support. You sound like an ignorant fool babbling emptiness. He showed empathy but you highlighted your lack of empathy or even love. Examine your hypocritical heart and see where your allegiance lies!! Your type are the reason for the state of affairs in st. lucia.
