PM Anthony takes offense at Chastanet’s “gone rogue” statement on Citizenship by Investment Programme

Dr-Kenny-AnthonyPRESS RELEASE – Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs and Social Security, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has taken strong offence at the recent statement by Allen Chastanet, the Leader of the UWP, that the Citizenship by Investment Programme has “gone rogue.” The statement was made by Allen Chastanet to RCI News.

According to Dr. Anthony,

“This is a disrespectful and offensive statement. It attacks the integrity of every single person involved in the CIP from the members of the Board to the employees of the Unit. When a statement like that is made, it is clear that Chastanet wants to destroy the programme. His objective is to discourage badly needed investment in our country, and ultimately to prevent the programme from getting off the ground. The question is this: Why does Allen Chastanet want to harm our country?”

Dr. Anthony added,

“Not a single application for citizenship has been granted, yet Chastanet says the Programme has “gone rogue.” The Government of Saint Lucia has appointed three major international firms or bodies to conduct due diligence on its behalf: Thomson Reuters, BDO Consulting and IPSA International. Is Chastanet saying that these firms too are participating in questionable practices?

“Thomson Reuters is a multinational mass media and information firm founded in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and based in New York City and Toronto. It is the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals.

“BDO Consulting is a New York City-based consulting firm which operates in many countries and provides litigation, investigation, restructuring and risk advisory services to corporations, law firms, insurance companies, financial services companies and government organizations in a wide range of industries, including banking, insurance, subprime lending, hedge fund, broker dealer, retail, technology and software.

“IPSA International, Inc., a regulatory risk mitigation company, provides advisory and investigative services to public and private middle market businesses, multi-national corporations, financial institutions, and governments worldwide.”

The Prime Minister concluded,

“Allen Chastanet will not be allowed to get away with his malicious insinuations. In time his dealings with certain external operatives in the sector will be exposed for all to see.”

  3. For someone who grow up with wealth and privilege Mr. Chastanet is more humble than you Mr. PM., HUMILITY IS THE KEY TO WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING. HELPING POOR PEOPLE IS ABOUT DOING MORE THAN JUST STEP PROGRAM. ITS ABOUT PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY FOR PROGRESS AND A BETTER FUTURE. YOUR POLICIES ARE ENSURING THAT THE POOR WILL NEVER GET A BETTER SHOT AT LIFE. EVERY THING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RAISED HAS BEEN OR WILL SOON BE RAISED UNDER YOUR ADMINISTRATION. AND NOW WITH CIP, OUR PEOPLE WILL SOON HAVE TO FORGET ABOUT OWNNG A PIECE OF LAND FARLESS A HOUSE.

  4. Mr. PM let me say to you very clearly because I don't think that you are smart, Mr. Chastanet was being nice. Most Saint Lucians, even a large number of those who voted for you are of the opinion that your administration has gone rogue. How did you go from en rouge to en rogue? I guess your character is overpowering your colour.

  5. Boy CIP is just alleged legalized corruption. Up to now, nobody in the SLP can change national perception regarding this. No ifs. No buts. No maybes. Only the political directorate and party hacks have a different view.

The SLP is allegdely synonymous with insincerity, callousness, lies, deceit, mendacity, deception, dishonesty, backwardness, and rampant country buck idiocy.

SLP allegdely has a ship of fools, by fools, and for fools, just listing from one blunder to another. Saint Licia has a date with destiny. With bated breath, the results are going to be this, with Other Parties 17 to SLP's 0.

  6. Career politicians like so many in government today are no longer of any use or any value to struggling countries like ours. Such false messiahs and characters are only interested in holding on to power by any means necessary. Lies, untruths, misinformation these are accepted as necessary tools of the trade. Such behaviour do not bother them at all.

With no positive ideas about developing the country, they seek only to complete election projects on time to end about campaign time. When all or most of these projects are not available or on time as the SLP now faces, the failures of all the projects, makes those politicians become extremely and desperately dangerous.

As we can clearly see, they have no qualms about descending to those underhand methods to hold on to their titles and their power. As we can see again, national interest takes a back seat.

Under these circumstance as we see now, corruption becomes unavoidable. The means of retaining their positions are clearly as we see now, become full of very dirty tricks at every turn. Now turn such politicians out of government, and the political cans of worms that they are now busy covering up would become more exposed, would burst open, and would stump you. Therefore, all what we are seeing today is only the tip of the iceberg.

  7. A man like chastenat who has his investment in st.lucia want to hurt the country. Where is your investment Kenny.

  8. Before i forget, no amount of Christmas Ham will undo the harm that has been done to the people and businesses of St. Lucia by this Government.

  9. To be quite honest, if ever there was a time that it was dead accurate to say that our prime minister is absolutely unfit for the position he is a complete waste of time, it's now. A true test of a man is to stand tall and proud in adverse conditions, to see solutions and not blame the past. To realize that trying to prey on the supposed ignorance of the masses would still work in 2016. Mr PM im sorry to say it but you are as clueless as a doorknob, you deserve the title of the economic "Jim Jones" of the Caribbean. And your followers are like the people who followed Jim Jones, because the similarity is only a few are getting to leave the compound with briefcases while the masses of followers were fed with the cyanide of increased taxes, increasing cost of living and step, nice and proud. You will go down in history as the worst Prime Minister St. Lucia has ever been subject to. Even Vaughn Lewis was better.

  10. St. Lucia is already suffering at the hands of a corrupt leadership who thrives on nepotism and the oppression of those who do not act or speak in their favor. Its like they have not corrupted this nation enough, so they have decided to sell our citizenship for a few measly investment dollars and turn our small island into a sanctuary for gluttonous multi millionaires seeking to evade taxes and penalties.

Recall the calypso "so much jackass arong yet they bringing more donkey in tong"...I mean with you guys already soaking this country in your cesspool of corruption why do we need more greedy ingrates bleeding us dry? Kenny you are the most arrogant leader in this hemisphere..pompous fool.

You and EH continue to shame our nation with your debauchery. Do you think we have no knowledge of the ramifications that have halted the st kitts and Dominica economy as a result of this stupid trash program? All designed to make your various dogs in waiting rich? Who will staff that office....the CIP the usual HAVES and whoever has enjoyed EHs phallus near their esophagus. Ciao.

  11. much ado about nothing. it is true. we will see after today. denys springer, challenge for u. declare any documents, certificates, degrees, diploma that stats that you are a certified political scientist or what ever you deemed to profess.

    (2)(1)

  12. some st lucians are a bunch of fools. always make half ass comments they know nothing about. take a page from gail rigobert. dont u all notice she is mute on the juffalli affair, the cip project?

gale is well verse in international relations and chastenet should have consulted her before putting his foot in his mouth. she is allowing him to hang himself slowly. international relations is a ticklish issue.

she will not comment on it cause she knows better, knows all about diplomacy and protocol.

lucians always tend to have a dim view of things, politicize things, make asinine comments, becomes all sort of specialist and make comments.

    (0)(13)

    • if gale was worth her salt she would have been right there alongside chastanet failing to defend the indefensible. in fact her silence makes me question her competence to be anything much in the party. afterall we know what rocks her boat several times over. so maybe that takes precedence over all else. so if u are privy to that secret please keep it to yourself. we dont want u coming here bringing gale up in discussion under the pretext of trying to make a sensible contribution. contribute to her if you must....maybe she needs a good fix.again.

  13. CIP is undoubtedly going to have some seriously negative impacts on our poor island. Not a fan of Chastanet though but have to agree with him. It's already sad that our international relations have been embarassing. Associating with guys like Juffali is already a disgrace; by the way how come Juffali's daughter is already our representative to Saudi Arabia, Seems the royal family gonna be leading fair helen soon.

    (7)(0)

  14. TALK YOU ALL TALK .NOTHING BAD WILL COME OUT OF ALL THAT NEGATIVE TALK. WE ARE AS SOLID AS A ROCK..WHAT YOU ALL DONT WANT TO SEE IN THE LIVING WILL BE IN THE BEDROOM.LOL

    (1)(6)

  15. Chastanet damn right, you and the CIP board members have no integrity so I cannot see Chastanet's statement as disrespectful. You have said worse things than that. Kenny you look like a wet poodle, it is time to make your departure because you have run out of ideas. Get out now before your senility gets worse. good bye

    (6)(1)

  16. Kenny is just a hypocrite and must be still think he can take advantage of st.lucia's goldfish mentality . well news flash kenny we haven't forgot about you writing to investors because of you know who . Stop insulting st.lucian people and try to fill us with lies and deceit all the time . YOU allegedly destroyed the local business sector and now you're like a desperate pimp working sweet Helen to her knees .

    (77)(3)

  17. When Kenny was flapping his gums and saying that he would call all potential investors and tell them not to invest in Saint Lucia what was that? Blasted hypocrites and two faced alleged opportunists.

For a man who allegedly tried to wreck Saint Lucia economically when he was in opposition didn't he realize that he would be reaping the fruits of his actions. Now he is in office he is scrutinizing for money and doesn't seem to realize that he inherited the very situation that he created.

Didn't he "discourage badly needed investment in our country" when he went on the rampage years ago?

"Gone rogue" is figurative and simply means something is amiss. We all know that it refers to the Juffali situation and who was at the head in London and now head of CIP.

Shameless man who will do anything to score cheap political points.

Don't try to distract attention from the main Juffali scandal. Today you got one hell of a birthday gift by having it as your deadline to respond to the UK authorities. Tell us about what you all decided to do with Juffali.

    (69)(3)

    • ***Now he is in office he is scrunting for money and doesn't seem to realize that he inherited the very situation that he created.***

      (31)(2)

  18. Who gives a rat's ass about the personal problems of some stinkingly rich politicians? I am not waiting on STEP or Christmas hams to eat.

Where are we going to go next? Its is a damn shame! Will all our cross-dressing politicians and others next start to lift their skirts or pulling down their pants as part of their idea of national political discourse? This country deserves better than the crap show that such shoot haters are fooling themselves that such are issues of national concern. What the hell is wrong with these idiots?

    (51)(3)

  19. St. Lucians stand your group your country is yours individually and not one man show one man eat and all else suffering.

    (42)(1)

  20. Chastanet should continue speaking because it seems that is the only way weare getting a peep out of you'll.
Maybe you'll could have mentioned the 3 bodies before who is responsible for conducting due diligence, but that is the first time I am hearing bout them, where they base etc.
I must really find out who is responsible for conducting due diligence in St.Kitts, because is either the findings of reputable agencies are ignored, or they not doing a good job.

One thing, people really forgetting fast.
You have the heart to ask why the man want to harm "our" country? That is what you think you can sell to St.Lucians.
Kenny forget when he was in opposition, he and his hacks were always on the heels of the UWP making noise. It was like that crush him he lost. All comments were made about King and his level of education, Vaugh and his alleged drinking, Lorne and you know what.
Now you standing here and telling me the remarks are offensive?
    Avaitay gard.
BTW in case you are not aware, there are many SLP supporters who HATE the CIP program.

    (55)(2)

  21. I think st.lucians all need to pray for the blessing of SLP losing the next election....And also the blessing of a better government...1 which it has never seen....not red ...not yellow...These two colors are really faded and its now pink and white....So if change comes its a blesssing and a miracle...It also means st.lucians are getting brighter and are no longer voting color but voting for progress as a nation and not personal benefit...Politics and government is going nowhere in st.lucia because of the lack of intelligence among the majority

    (55)(3)

  22. Kenny you are not wearing desperation well................ I cannot wait to vote you and your cronies out next election. BIGGEST mistake ever made was to ever bring you into elective politics in Lucia. The country is in darkness, its bleeding LITERALLY. The Lord God will deliver us.
