PRESS RELEASE – Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs and Social Security, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, has taken strong offence at the recent statement by Allen Chastanet, the Leader of the UWP, that the Citizenship by Investment Programme has “gone rogue.” The statement was made by Allen Chastanet to RCI News.
According to Dr. Anthony,
“This is a disrespectful and offensive statement. It attacks the integrity of every single person involved in the CIP from the members of the Board to the employees of the Unit. When a statement like that is made, it is clear that Chastanet wants to destroy the programme. His objective is to discourage badly needed investment in our country, and ultimately to prevent the programme from getting off the ground. The question is this: Why does Allen Chastanet want to harm our country?”
Dr. Anthony added,
“Not a single application for citizenship has been granted, yet Chastanet says the Programme has “gone rogue.” The Government of Saint Lucia has appointed three major international firms or bodies to conduct due diligence on its behalf: Thomson Reuters, BDO Consulting and IPSA International. Is Chastanet saying that these firms too are participating in questionable practices?
“Thomson Reuters is a multinational mass media and information firm founded in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and based in New York City and Toronto. It is the world’s leading source of intelligent information for businesses and professionals.
“BDO Consulting is a New York City-based consulting firm which operates in many countries and provides litigation, investigation, restructuring and risk advisory services to corporations, law firms, insurance companies, financial services companies and government organizations in a wide range of industries, including banking, insurance, subprime lending, hedge fund, broker dealer, retail, technology and software.
“IPSA International, Inc., a regulatory risk mitigation company, provides advisory and investigative services to public and private middle market businesses, multi-national corporations, financial institutions, and governments worldwide.”
The Prime Minister concluded,
“Allen Chastanet will not be allowed to get away with his malicious insinuations. In time his dealings with certain external operatives in the sector will be exposed for all to see.”
