Photos of a beach in La Pointe, Mon Repos which has been invaded by seaweeds, causing a strong stench in the area.

Yesterday, St. Lucia News Online reported on a similar situation facing Micoud residents and fishermen.

  1. OH wow! the smell is really bad i passed on the main road last weekend and the smell is unbearable, i wondered who the people coped. And that is the road used by most taxi drivers to transport visitors to and from the international airport. So for our locals and visitors the issue needs to be addressed urgently.

  2. WOw! That is massive build-up.

    Ministry of Health and/or Agriculture need to look into the levels of hydrogen sulfide that may be emitted from this. Somebody needs to affirm that the concentrations in the areas most affected are safe because the stench is indeed Terrible!!!

  3. Question to anyone with the knowledge, can sea weed be used by itself or used a raw material of any product for commercial use?
